Signs of Porn Addiction

If you are concerned that your loved one or someone close to you is exhibiting signs of porn addiction, the best thing that you can do is to help the person seek treatment. Porn addiction is a serious problem which can escalate from addiction, desensitization, to the 'acting out stage'.

Once you have determined that a person has an addiction to pornographic material, the desensitization refers to the stage wherein the individual is not shocked anymore by the images seen on pornographic materials. This means that they are already numb to the graphicness of the images and they are looking for something more – which is a sign shown by other types of substance abusers. The most alarming stage is the acting out stage, wherein a person with porn addiction attempts to try out the sexual fantasies viewed on screen.

Before things take a turn for the worse, here are the porn addiction signs to watch out for.

For example, if you are a wife and you think that your husband is addicted to porn, your feeling emotionally or sexually neglected could be a sign of addiction. If you feel that he is looking forward to the times that you are out of the house, if he spends a lot of time out of the house or in the office, if you catch him storing pornographic materials on his desk or computer but he denies that they are his – these are the usual signs of being a porn addict.

Finally, keeping his finances a secret from you could be a sign that he is subscribing to paid pornographic sites online. The sooner that you find out about the porn addiction, the better. Just as it is with any type of addiction, early treatment of the condition is important so that things will not get a turn for the worse.
