Porn Addiction Statistics

The good thing about statistics is that they provide a solid evidence whether a particular problem in society is getting a turn for the better or for the worse. By clearly seeing the figures, people can create modifications with their lifestyle or their behavior as necessary. When it comes to addiction, statistics are also helpful in determining whether the problem has alleviated or not. Take pornography addiction as an example. Years ago, you can only gain access to pornographic material by subscribing to adult publication or renting pornographic videos.

However, with the accessibility of the Internet, pornography online has become so widespread that it has turned into a multi-billion dollar industry – and the statistics are there to prove it.

Approximately, 25% of the searches made online are for pornographic websites. In 2006 alone, there were already more than 40 million adult websites which are actively operating online. Out of all the online users worldwide, more than 70 million people visit these adult sites. Another interesting fact is that majority of the regular visitors of online porn are men, while less than 30% are women.

Whether it is a result of an inherent behavior or a sense of viewing porn being taboo to most women, is yet to be found out. What is important to note is that when the viewing of pornographic materials turns to an addiction, it will definitely affect the intimacy of a couple's relationship, not to mention the fact that other family members will be affected.

Just like any other forms of addiction, porn addiction manifests to behavioral changes which will negatively impact the person involved and the people around him or her – so it is necessary to seek professional treatment if porn addiction exists.
